“Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire,” wrote Plutarch.
To keep the fire of education alive during the summer, Veritas Prep offers a range of courses through Great Hearts Online Summer School.
Great Hearts Online Summer School is open to all current and incoming Arizona Great Hearts students. All summer courses include daily, live video instruction M-Th, weekly tutoring opportunities, and access to our Great Hearts curriculum using the online learning platform, Canvas.
The enrollment window is March 3-May 30. Classes will run June 4-30.
New Veritas Prep families should carefully review course prerequisites and graduation requirements below to determine whether summer coursework is recommended or necessary to ensure student readiness for the 2026–2027 school year.
VPA Course Guidance & Prerequisites:
- Language:
- Incoming 7th and 8th grade students should plan to take MS Latin.
- Math:
- Algebra I is a required course for high school graduation. We recommend the summer course for students entering 9th or 10th grade without Algebra on their high school transcript.
- High school and middle school math courses are available for students who require remediation or additional practice.
- History:
- American History is a graduation requirement that VPA students take in the 9th grade. Incoming 10th-11th graders who do not have a full credit of American History on their high school transcript can take it in summer school.
